Who is the boss your Body or your Brain? This may seem like a simple question. But, the truth is the Brain is connected to your body by more than just nerves. Chemicals called hormones (more than those you are familiar with!) have an effect on portions of the brain.
And, the brain itself secretes hormones to regulate the body. The brain and body exist in an intricate balance with feedback from both sides to keep you healthy. When depression hits, low levels of brain chemicals lead to low levels of body chemicals and hormones. So, yes, the brain is definitely the boss. But, depression is a two way street with changes in your body AND your brain.
