Short Days Equal Depression

Physician's Fact #13

Another reason people get sad during the holidays is because of SAD. Seasonal Affective Disorder occurs when the days grow shorter and there is less sunlight. This form of depression tends to occur and recur during the fall and winter, just in time for the holidays! the decreasing amount of sunlight is also accompanied by colder temperatures.

What can you do about it? Try taking a walk during the middle of the day while there is some sunshine. Use alternate light sources that mimic sunlight. Be aware of the possibility of depression and have a plan! Read this week’s blog post for more information.
