Think of this as a continuation from last week’s Faith Fact.  I closed that article quoting Romans 8:38-39.  Those verses, by the way, are worth your memorizing. 

Every time you feel depressed, hopeless and lonely, quote these truths – you can even pray them, thanking God for His love.  They are a divine antidote to the lies your emotions are telling you while depressed. 

Having said that, I want to return to a couple of verses Paul writes earlier in Romans 8.  We’ll start with verse 35:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” (NIV).

Let’s break down this verse and see what it says, applying it specifically to your depression.  Could “trouble” be depression?  What about “hardship?”  “Persecution” certainly fits what depression has done to me!  But notice what Paul says about all these things:  they cannot separate us from the love of Christ!  Your depression, used by Satan (the “Master of Lies”), lies to you, saying God could never love someone like you.  God’s word, however, says just the opposite!  Your depression is helpless against God’s love! 

Let’s look at one more verse: 

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37 NIV).

Not just struggling to get by; not even just becoming a conqueror.  Instead, God says that with His power and love operating in our lives, we will be MORE THAN conquerors!  This is one of the main reasons we have “Conquering Depression” in the title of our books.  God says that in Him we can conquer this enemy.  If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to buy the book “Hope Again” and begin working the program.  It can help lead you out of the darkness and into the light. 

Remember:  NOTHING – not even depression – can separate you from God’s love.  In Christ, you can be MORE THAN conquerors over depression.
